Wathik Alaaraji

Wathik Alaaraji is Regional Sales Manager for Magseis Fairfield which has recently been acquired by TGS. He is based in Dubai and over the last twenty years has worked in Oslo, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur developing a significant portfolio of seismic acquisition and processing projects with a broad range of IOCs and NOCs. Following his B.Sc. Studies in Earth Sciences at UCC in Cork, Ireland, Wathik completed an M.Sc. in Petroleum Geoscience from Imperial College London (2001), an M.A. in Social Science from The Open University (2011) and in 2021 completed an M.Sc. with Merit in Renewable Energy Systems Technology at Loughborough University in the UK. Wathik is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and his current research interests and business development efforts are focused on the MENA region and include improving OBN efficiency in shallow marine environments as well as the advancement of land and shallow water Full Waveform Inversion. With a foot in both conventional and Renewable Energy sectors, Wathik is passionate about pushing the sustainability envelope in the seismic industry and promoting the value of OBN and high resolution seismic for Wind Farm Development and CCS in addition to conventional Oil and Gas development and production.
